It really won't be a white Christmas.

Well, the weather outside isn't frightful - the very opposite, as a matter of fact. It's been an unseasonably warm mid-to-high 70s all week long, which really doesn't help one get in the Christmas spirit (especially as I refuse to listen to Christmas music unless its forced upon me whilst shopping). After seven years of seeing snow and freezing my ass off every time I went outside, though, I'm not complaining in the least. I mean, last night, it was warm enough that my down comforter was too hot to sleep under.

But Christmas it is, and in the (attempted) spirit of the season, I made these candy cane cookies. My amendment to this recipe was that I only put the crushed candy canes in the pink dough, and added a little extra peppermint extract for extra zing. I think it worked out very well - the pink dough was very sweet, but the white bordered on savory, so the two different doughs balanced each other out.

And with that, merry and happy, everyone!
